Chapter 1 - Conflict in the Town
It was a fine winter morning, though it was quite cold I still felt warm. Just as when I sat down on my chair I heard the door shut slam. I glanced and saw Alex coming in shivering, he held a bag full of groceries.
"Good morning sir" said Alex.
I nodded back.
Alex is a fat man with a bald head. He always had a cheerful smile that cheers me up, but sometimes that smile turns into a grin.
He placed his hat down on the table and said. "I'll prepare a cup of hot chocolate for you, sir"
"Don't bother I'm not in a mood to drink something" I replied. "Is the breakfast ready?"
"Give me a moment to prepare" said Alex.
Alex went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. I sat down on my chair and glanced at the calendar.
27 December 1926. I always thought how the future would be. I'm a guy who's interested in Science, History and as well as Literature.
I had a dream to become all of those things but all of them failed. But I invent cool stuffs and writes novels for myself. My father never let me buy any historical artifacts for my collections, because he says 'It's a waste of money buying old junks',
I went to eat my breakfast. Unusually I finished it very quickly today. So I went to go for a little in this winter morning.
I stepped out, a breeze of cold wind greeted me. I said bye to Alex and went to the road. The road was disturbingly quiet. Real quiet. I got suspicious about it. I saw a man pass by. He looked scared.
I stopped him and asked. "Excuse me mister, do you happen to know why the street is empty?"
"The Patzes are fighting again, this time with guns!!" said the man. And he took off running.
The Patzes are a friend of our family, Hithers. Mr. Patze, the one who built church St. Christ. Auspiciously Mr.Patze was very wealthy but unfortunately his sons Edward and Eric Patze are literally addicted to money they'll do anything to get it. They are now willing to kill their own sibling to get money for a short time! They've crossed the limits this time, I'll have to go and talk to them and settle things. But it won't be easy. Both of them are not willing to share the wealth and the citizens are afraid that they'll tear down the church for money.
Without thinking and with great anger I called a horse wagon and went to Midtown, where the church is located.
"Sir, the Ptzes are having a fight there, it could be dangerous", said the wagon driver.
"Then drop me near there!" I shouted back.
I couldn't control myself, someone has to bring them to a stop, or perhaps teach them a good lesson. But who? Even the police are afraid of the Patzes. But not me.
The wagon pulled to a stop at the destination. I quickly slid down and gave the driver his fare. He didn't speak, just nodded. I walked the rest of the way down the road. As I was walking I heard gun shots. It's serious fight between them today! I ran to the Midtown church and then the church came in view. I was directly in front of it. Before I could realize that I was standing in between a WAR! I got shot in the leg,
then I heard someone call my name and then it all became blur.........
